My lifelong interest in art was sparked by my music teacher mom and her collection of art books. My picture books growing up were of artists like Picasso and Utrillo. I have always drawn or sketched..
In 2009, I began to focus on pastels while studying with Lorraine Trenholm.. I have also taken pastel workshops from Lorenzo Chavez, Jeanne Smith, Doug Dawson and Richard McKinley. Before that I focused on water color including instruction from David Drummond and Steven Quiller. I studied photography in field workshops with Paul Burwell and Robert Wilson. In the 70s and 80's, I was a professional potter working with high-fire reduction ware and sculpture as well as raku and primitive firing techniques.
Since increasing my focus on art in the past few years, I have received several awards including 1st place in 2nd dimensional art in 2012 and 2013 in regional juried art shows sponsored by the Cortez, Cultural Center plus a lifetime achievement award in 2014, lst place in the Plein Air Paint In in Ignacio, CO (2013). I also placed 2nd in the Four Corners Commissioned juried Art show in 2013. Two of my paintings of light rail transportation were selected to highlight the community room in the new Evans Station Loft Complex in Denver . I am currently represented by Kingfisher Gallery on South Padre Island have been represented in several galleries including Fine Art and Frame Gallery in Fort Collins, Co and Aneka Interiors in Denver, CO.
